In this article, Gérard Gatti, our perfumer, shares a bit more about the creative processes that led him to create two new eaux de parfum for GEODORA, which he founded in 2021.
“I had been wearing these creations for nearly two years. I always take a lot of time to refine my fragrances for GEODORA—it’s a luxury we allow ourselves, because this extended period gives me the chance to test my ideas over time. If, after a year, I still enjoy them as much as I did on the first day, it means they have enough personality and harmony to be introduced to a wider audience.
With UN BALCON SUR L’AZUR, I wanted to express a neo-classical freshness that evokes the unique light one experiences in our Provençal South. I also wanted to celebrate the scents of citrus, herbs, woods, and sea breeze that rise from the rocky promontories dotting the Mediterranean coast from Menton to Saint-Raphaël. In fact, the working name for this perfume was BEAUSOLEIL for a long time. It contains a wealth of natural ingredients, including bergamot, mandarin, orange, ginger, thyme, fine lavender, vetiver, and cedarwood.
With SAVANNAH BAY, I wanted to express another facet of the South in summer. Around the Saint-Tropez peninsula, when the sun is at its peak, the sand is hot, the air is filled with the scent of surrounding maritime pines, and bodies become fluid and languid. This fragrance radiates sensuality and softness, thanks in particular to the presence of myrrh, Peru balsam, styrax, and ambrette seeds.
Two olfactory visions—between Mediterranean luminous freshness and Caribbean sensual warmth—to elevate the senses and invite you to travel.”
